The noble and honorable Odd Vesper had lived his entire life in the shame of his predecessors wake. The House of Vesper, many a year ago, had fallen into ruin and shame. The previous name holders only brought acclaim to their house through gambling, bad decisions, and outright lack of respect and dignity. King Denmus Krai, while in his youth, had found himself appalled and disbanded the house with the blood of every living Vesper spilled. Except for two.
Two cousins at an infants age, would be left abandoned to find their world drastically changed. One would fight his way through poverty and the ranks of vampire knighthood, striving to bring peace to all he crossed. While another, would be brought to the king, to be raised as his personal hand maiden...and later his eyes and ears to the kingdom...his spy. These two children, Odd and Nyxia, would grow up to prove that the namesake of their house could be something different...something better. And after well over a hundred years of dutiful service, and in the causatum of discovering the betrayer to the throne, King Denmus Krai would see fit to reward them.
Removing the shamed Captain S'know, Odd Vesper would be knighted as the Kingdoms new liaison to his majesty. The Kingdom's new Captain of the guard. While Nyxia Corvallion, would be able to do away with her alias, and proudly take up her mantle as the new Lady of the House of Vesper...reestablished.
However, in this time of celebration, as one rose to power...another fell from grace. The warrant for the High Chancellor came as a consternation to all who knew him. The position of Chancellor was a rank well earned and respected. So for one with such honor to be accused of something such as murder, most would find it unthinkable. And yet in the heart of the abhorrent nature of the crime, no one stood to defend him. Nazriel Ancalime would stand alone.
As the warrant posters littered the streets of Taifera, the High Chancellor would be halfway across the globe slaying a golem in the name of his King. And while his assets were seized and servants were charged with conspiracy, the faithful cleric was shedding blood. After the heated battle finished and the victorious man prepared to return home, he was greeted by a family friend. An old human woman, who owed his father a debt.
The woman, reminded the man of his father. A most powerful cleric and the previous High Chancellor, who in an obsession with a dark secret that ran through his blood...abandoned his son at childhood in order to gain better control over himself. The old woman, whose name was Dagoon Jibi, was close to Nazriel's father in her youth. Having left the kingdom to practice the magicks in peace, she and her husband...in the most special of circumstances...had befriended the vampire. It would be years later, at her old age widowed and alone, that her friend would seek her out before leaving the kingdom. Holding her to a dire promise, that in his absence, should any danger befall his son...she would reveal to him his true nature. And release the very demon that his father left to control. A creature that ran through their bloodline. If only to save him in his time of need. Taking his hand in hers, she whisked the boy away...it was time to release the Nexu.
So while the duo spanned the globe, hiding from bounty hunters and other manners of creatures who wanted the bounty of gold on their heads...the King grew tired of waiting. Across Fallax, under the supreme leadership of the emperor...intolerance governed all races who weren't birthed of vampires. And yet from the ashes, rose a particular trio, who had earned the respect of Hecatae Mateo. They were called, The Band of Three. Three werewolf barbarians known throughout many kingdoms as being fierce warriors able to slay any manner of demon or creature. Their cunning and prowess was only overshadowed by their ruthlessness and perfect track record. So in the dead of night, racked by a fit of despair in the memory of the kingdoms lost son, Denmus Krai summoned them.
The Band of Three arrived liked Kings in a nation made up of themselves. They commanded veneration from all who crossed their paths, and presented themselves before Denmus as if they were messiahs. Audacity admired, the King explained the situation at hand and offered them his kingdom to be their temporary home. What would follow would be entertaining for some...and deeply terrifying for others.
The Three left a trail of fear and convenient destruction wherever they went. On their first night, they nearly destroyed the brothel in their own arguments and lascivious behavior. A multitude of slaves and peasants alike would find themselves the playthings to the Bands desires. Some were thrown out of windows. Others kidnapped. A few hunted down, a few enslaved. All were commanded to pay respect, or be fed upon like rabbits in a stew. Soon after a few asperous decisions, their reputation for being Epic Heroes, soon translated to that of Murderous Brutes. Needless to say, a ruinous aura covered the kingdom which lead to suicides, drunken brawls, disputes amongst the knights themselves, a girl being tortured and lost in the woods for a week, and even the death of two vampire nobility. Seeing no other option, while the Captain Odd Vesper struggled to maintain peace, Nyxia Vesper would progress down the path of power...if her logic could not bring peace, then she would add might and force to the equation.
It was just when the despair was at it's pinnacle, did the King finally receive word on the location of Nazriel. Approaching the Band of Three's Alpha, Denmus would take a stand. Instructing them to leave when necessary...and to no longer dismantle the ordered chaos of his kingdom. And for the briefest of moments, the land would fall into a relaxed state as the eye of the storm held fast above their lives. No one knowing, that several days travel to the north...in an abandoned tower...an entire nights magick would come to a head. And a young man, prosecuted and hunted...would awake from an old lady's spell weaving...a creature to silence all others. The Nexu Karonix, was now awaken. And with Dagoon at his side...Nazriel and Karonix, sharing the same body, would soon come face to face with a question of their future. Would the land of Taifera come crashing down under their wrath? Or would they seek out an audience with the King to clear their name?
Yet little did they know, the full extent to which they would be treated as a monster. Who would prove victorious? The Beast Slayers or the Beast?
